Thank you Maureen I have waited a whole yr for this to bloom having only paid £5 at our local garden centre as stems were broken.

But I knew it would reward me with great joy which it duly has.

do you have any recommendations for growing peonies?someone i work with was asking ~ she says she doesnt know much about gardening ~ but would love to grow peonies, should she buy it as a small tuber in a packet [from supermarket] or would she be better starting with a plant from the GC ~ also i said it needs sun ~ but wasnt sure what else.

I have only bought at GC 's but she could try a supermarket one.

I have many dotted in garden some in shade others in full sun when we get it.

And they both grow well.

And Shirley temple I got as a bargain 2 Autumns ago at garden centre for £5 has stems were broken.

And I had been in 2 weeks before and it had not sold.

So said if they reduced it I would buy knowing it would grow the followng year which it did.
