Yucca (not sure filamentosa or brevifolia)

Thanks Dorjac..yes it's a little sparse at present but I have plans! lol....will have to be drought hardy plants as this spot is the sandiest, dryest, hottest part of the gardens lol... at present the dahlias are hanging in with my additions of moisture..but the ones enjoying it and thriving are the carnations and the yucca.

I should think a yucca could survive anything.my sister I law had one prickling people on the front path. It got cut back below the ground 3times and then started growing again. It finally got poisoned to get rid of it.

perhaps our only ace-in-the-hole is our very long, very cold winters and wet springs. They won't survive here without cover and care.

A Short Post Script: Had seeds from my other garden...they didnèt take in the greenhouse...plunked some in the garden and guess whatÉ! they are up...lol. will post pic for nonbelievers! (sorry about the strange punctuation)

Maybe the seeds found the informality of being put in 'real ground 'more congenial. I casually threw an old packet of 'Love in the mist' on a bare slot of garden. Low and behold they have grown and flowered too. I have tried several times to grow it with seeds from a friends front garden, and nothing happened.

It should thrive in that spot Lori. :-)

If the seeds will germinate then I guess that's the first step toward thriving...hope it does. I rather like it.
Know just what you mean, Dorjac. I had the same experience with the hollyhock seeds my sister sent me. The ones I fussed over in the greenhouse are not as healthy looking as the ones I sowed in the bed.
