Does this get paler the longer it blooms, Kath?

Its still white on 2nd day of full bloom.

I thought perhaps it was pinkish when it started, Kath. It is lovely - you must be relieved it flowered after all the rain. My Sarah Bernhardt was lovely while it lasted, but some of the buds didn't make it - they were just a soggy ball. Peonies are glorious, though, aren't they?
