I bought this and another penstemmon on the local (Wisbech) market in a one litre pot for only £2. They're in lovely condition and a credit to the grower
If regularly dead headed, penstemmon flower from mid June to the first hard frosts . They're fairly winter hardy in mid latitude UK but I find it best to plant them 2-3 inches lower in the ground than they were in the pot to give additional frost protection. This way if the top foliage is killed they often resprout from the base . They take very easily from 4-6 inch semi ripe cuttings from August to the end of September . This plant has a final height of about 75cm and spread of 50 cm
