Tomatoes

Wow! Lots of tomatoes! :>)

His veggie patch has done really well this year. I have chopped tomatoes in the freezer and four bowls on the kitchen work top. Melons, Watermelons, cucumbers, eggplants, zucchini and potatoes (hope they did well).

That's terrific! I used to grow a vegetable garden for years. I had all those with the exception of the potatoes and zucchini. I grew crookneck, scallop and spaghetti squash, and corn. I really miss my home-grown watermelons, corn and 4 varieties of eggplants.

Oh yeah he's growing spaghetti squash too.

He has at least five types of tamato plants. This type in the pic is one I loved this winter,,,,saved the seeds, dried them, sowed them and then gave hubby the plant to grow.

I love having a veggie patch, I just don't like taking care of it like I do my flower garden.

I'm (hubby) gowing to grow corn next year too.....love corn.

You should start a little veggie patch next year.

I don't like tomatoes, but I do like tomato sauce. lol!

I do want to grow my vegetable garden again. Maybe I'll do a winter vegetable garden. I love home-grown lettuce, broccoli, Brussel sprouts and strawberries. Tomatoes are a commercial winter crop here in San Diego; however, I don't like them. lol!

We will be starting our winter garden when all our summer veggies have finished. My strawberry plants die down in winter. Maybe I should grow some in hubby's greenhouse. Will that work?

That's funny! Yes, I'm kind of strange. lol!

I think strawberries will grow in a greenhouse. I know it's a late winter crop in southern Cal. I think Feb. the first strawberries come into the stores.

You most likely don't want the greenhouse to be too hot.

I don't think it will be too hot in winter. Besides we leave the door open during the days, close it in the evening.
We didn't use the greenhouse last winter.....but I will this year. ;o)))

My little plastic greenhouse has shade cloth on it. The roof blew off two winters ago. I need to fix it for this coming winter...as it's suppose to be an El Niño year. That means potentially many big storms.

Yes, I should have used it last year.

Oh, El Nino doesn't sound good. Start repairing your greenhouse roof.

I'm putting my Plumerias indoors as soon as the rainy cool weather starts. They look gorgeous and impressive even in pots.

Well, now you know. It's always nice to have a greenhouse...even if it's not heated.

Yes, I haven't read how strong the El Niño is, yet. Although, a strong to very strong El Niño can cause catastrophic storm and flood damage in California. The 1997 El Niño was the strongest on record. It caused many billions of dollars in damage to California.

So glad to hear about your plumerias! I'm sure with all the heat there they will be blooming by next year (at least some). I just took some pics of my 10ft/3m tall pink plumeria which is in the ground in the back yard. It's just starting to bloom in all this horrible heat. This plumeria always blooms late...and not sure why?
