This is most likely the most widely planted golden flowering tree in San Diego, CA. It's widely planted as a street tree. Photo taken August 9, 2012.

I would think so. lol! :>)
This yard had two trees. I've seen some private yards have 3 or more. It's a very cheap tree. Not sure why anyone would buy this tree because you can get seed pods everywhere...and it's very easy to germinate (and very fast growing).

Certainly easy to germinate (and reasonably fast growing even over here) is C.bicapsularis. I have a few coming along.

C. bicapsularis grows wild in many areas of southern California. Actually, many species of Cassia can become quite weedy. My favorites are: Cassia javanica, spectabilis, fistula and the gorgeous roxburghii (which is not reliably hardy here in San Diego).

I guess we're lucky here in San Diego. :>)
Soon, many of the tropical, subtropical, fall/winter-flowering trees/shrubs will be blooming.
