Squirrel munching - what?

Squirrel munching - what?

This is an extreme crop - I can't quite make out what the squirrel is eating, but it does look dismayingly like meat - is that a foot under its right wrist?? Whatever it was, it was big enough to keep the squirrel in place long enough for me to take six pics, some from my back door, others from my bedroom window.

That´s a perfect photo! I have never had enough good luck to make a photo of squirrel. They move to fast and my camera has problems with mechanics now.
Sent to favourites, Fran.
P.S. I do not think it is meat. To me it looks like some "meaty" fruit.

hope you're right! this was an extremely long shot - well, about twelve metres - in the actual pic it was quite distant. it would'nt have kept so still if i'd got closer, or if it had been eating something smaller.

Marvellous photo Fran. I will magnify it on our other gizmo and try and get a better view of whatever it is eating. Must surely be vegetarian.

Looks like something in a wrapping to me.

it's the amount of pink that's putting me off - I know the inside of the mouth and tongue would be pink, at least I assume so, but that much pink?

i've heard that squirrels will take birds' eggs - not sure about anything more than that. lol I went to Google and started "do squirrels eat - " and up came options for birds, eggs and meat, lol I also found some entries for squirrel meat as human food. Don't think I'll go there.

This is an extreme crop, done on Paint Shop, and I did the "1 step photo fix" - maybe if I posted the original withoiut any enhancement, people could do their own thing better than I did it here.
