That's lovely Carole, you can see the slow changing of the season in it. Lucifer is a weed in my garden... keeps cropping up everywhere ...I keep trying to give it away. I like near the back of my border, but it doesn't seem to know that lol:-)

Thanks Ba I did dig a lot out last year as it was growing towards the front of the border, so does need to be kept in place;0)

Love all these colours together,Carole..got similar in my border..with Lucifer, and your Lysmachia..:o)..I have just cut my Lychnis back now,as they are going past their best, and yellowing leaves at the bottom...but been in flower for a couple of months,so can't complainThere are still new shoots appearing,so I may get some more yet :o)

Hi Sandra what colour are your Lychnis I have the White and a lovely deep cerise one , very long flowering plants are't they;0)

13 Aug, 2012

Mine are all the deep cerise ones,Carole..they show up nicely next to the White Delphiniums..:o) ..I have five now,as so easy to split, aren't they?.I did have a white one,but it didn't do as well as this colour..don't know why,so didn't bother getting another..

Will give you a cutting , the white in the picture is still flowering strongly and has a pretty pink centre;0)

Thank you Violet and HB so pleased you like it, just waiting for all the Sedum now they are top heavy with flower buds so hoping for a bumper show;0)

Mine are huge too,Carole..and all of them in various stages
of colour...some are almost ready, and quite pink, yet the ones in the back are still green ! I find that odd,as they are all facing the same way..eastwards..wonder why that is ?

Is it more shady at the back Sandra? I do love them when they flower and they are so good for the insects [not seen any Butterfys this year except for a Cabbage White have you?]

14 Aug, 2012

Yes it is,Carole..and in front of the Conservatory,in the centre of that border.. I would say shaded, rather than shady..maybe that's it...I've not seen many Butterflies either..a couple of Red Admirals but more Cabbage Whites..

14 Aug, 2012

Lucky you Red Admirals! perhaphs the Sedum will attract a few;0)

If I had room for herbaceous, that Lychnis would definitely be in. It shines out at dusk and flowers all summer. Love them...the pink ones too.

You are absolutely right Karen cant imagine the border without it, If you do find a little space will send you a piece in the Autumn ;0)
