Aloe aculeata

Aloe aculeata (Aloe aculeata)

This is an Aloe aculeata flowering in the garden. On my blog I give a full description of the plant and more pics for those interested. Lovely aloe.

Wow!

Are these put under cover for the winter?

PS - what are the plants in the background?

Nope Meanie, we do not get frost by the coast, but near record levels of rain this year, lots of flooding, not that the plants seem to mind much. The backround left to right is Bulbine frutescens, A. africana hybrid baby, Crassula tetragona underneath, Cotyledon orbiculata (flowering) and Aloe marlothii (baby) in front.

Felt like a bit of a muppet when I read on your site that you were in South Africa!!

Mind you, wasn't there snow in Jo'burg the other day?

Yes, about the whole of central SA got snow and as I said we have near record rains, 2 main roads flooded for a month now. Where I live now, more issues with humidity and salty ocean mist, but a few years back I lived in zone9 area, with winter frost and hail, mainly used big trees as a protection and frost cloth.

So S Africa has had disturbed weather too, with unusual rainfall and and snow too?. Now that GOY is so 'global' it does seem that Canada and Italy, France and Spain have had strange weather . USA is one on its own with terrible freaky weather from more powerful hurricanes to stronger tornados. Farmers and gardeners are very sensitive to these changes.

You can say that again Dorjac! One part snowed in, another flooding and then massive livestock and farmland losses due to a massive fire to ran through Free State province in SA. This after we had 3 years drought here in the Eastern Cape. I just think people tend to look to their own, totally understandable, but there is bigger picture and it seems all extremes vs historical records.
