This large African Tulip tree desperately needs to be trimmed of the dead branches and given copious amounts of water, which it doesn't receive. It's a tropical rain forest tree. Photo taken next to the Natural History Museum in Balboa Park, San Diego, CA. on Aug. 21, 2012.

Thanks! :>)
I would think the African Tulip tree would be too tender in most of New Zealand. Maybe the northern parts of the North Island they may grow. This tree is native to the equatorial tropical rain forest of Congo, Africa.
