As near as we could get without falling in! The gardens along the river's edge were magnificent but soaking wet from the spray.

It is, Dwyllis. And this has been a dry, dry summer - Can you imagine it in spring with the snow melt? I'd always wanted to go there, and we were returning from Windsor, Ontario (almost Detroit) to our home in Nova Scotia, and the shortest route was via Niagara! The town itself with the casino, tourist traps, hordes of shoppers, etc. was not of interest to us, but there are lovely gardens and parks all along the river, and a huge car park within a very short walk across the grass to the river. Bring a picnic!

I love your water feature Elke. You must have a huge garden.... lol. I have visited Niagra several times when visiting relatives in Toronto. Wendy and I took a helicopter over the falls, it was great fun! I sat by the pilot and took photos through the glass bottom.... Not too great if you don't like heights though.

Magnificent! We had planned to visit Niagara Falls whilst we were in the Detroit area visiting family in July, but my daughter-in-law ended up taking us to the beautiful area of Mackinaw City & Mackinaw Island instead .... in the opposite direction. Next time we visit America, we will make sure to get to Niagara Falls. I bet the roar of water is deafening.
