Mangifera indica - Mango Tree

Mangifera indica - Mango Tree (Mangifera indica - Mango Tree)

This beautiful mango tree has many mangoes; however, they were covered by leaves, which is very unusual! Typically, the fruit hang well below the foliage (don't know the variety). Photo taken Sept. 8, 2012 in San Diego, CA.

Manila tend to have fruit among the leaves. Southeast Asian type.

Not sure what type of mango this is...I don't think it's a Manila, though. I've seen this tree with ripe fruit, it has many shades of red and yellow.

It could be the original Manila..that was green and red or orange blushed. IF it was round- then no way a S-Asian type. The yellow as I understand was a sport of Manila from Sinaloa Mexico and is also the well known Altulfo.

Wiki refuses to say Manila..using Manalita. Only Wiki!

It looks more like a Haden-type mango. However, I could be wrong. It also could be a seedling-mango.
