Early morning dew on crab apples. Looking like cherries at first glance. September 2012

I planted 2 crab apple trees when we came here 25 years ago - mainly to ensure pollination of the other apple trees I planted in a small orchard area. Before my children grew up and left home I used to make mint jelly with crab apples, but now they are for the birds!

Do you harvest these? I have one that I leave for birds
and last year I bought Malus "Dolgo" (no crop yet) which is very good for making jelly. Tell the truth I bought it more for spring blooms than abything else. It is a beautiful old-fashioned tree.
Love your picture.
