Stepping stones to shed, + Escallonia along top of garden with screening.

The lawn looks worse than it is in this photograph, but it still far from looking it's best what do you recommend guys/girls? I have fed it with a top quality feed & weed product.
It was about 3 to 4 feet high when we moved in. Apparrantly the guy who lived here before never had a mower. He only ever strimmed it once in a blue moon.
