......but some might see a beauty in this. I tried to make the name of this fishing boat and the last word was Lady (could not see the first one) so obviously the owner thinks very highly of "her".
Can you see the beauty? I prefer the sail boats out there.
This was the first time in our 12 years here that the fisheries have opened these waters for commercial activity. We could only see a sport fisherman here and there. The activities were policed by a coast guard at all times. This spot is also excellent for the Dungeness crab (Metacarcinus magister) and closer to the other island in my view, the mussels are also famous for its taste. So if one likes seafood this is the place....although, it is not cheap.

Lol, he looks terribly there, he probably had broken tooth there, I couldn´t find better version of this song on youtube, sorry, lol.
He is perfect composer, better then singer But yes, he is popular. His brother is well known jazz trumpet player and was my patient many years ago.

Hi Hywel, the color in this picture is similar to a navy ship.... but it is a noisy clattering fishing freighter.
I think the fisheries closed for business today... it is all over . Some smaller boats are out there now and few sail boats as well.
I saw through the binoculars that one of the boats got a seal in the net and it had a hayday . Lots of seagulls and even eagles flying around. I do not know how they got it out.

'like' this boat photo as I was a boat-builder ( prefer sail & canoes ) also I am passionate about seafood. Glad the trawler season has finished though.

A seal caught in the net doesn't sound very good. Some things are just not environmentally friendly :o( I've heard certain types of fishing boats also destroy the sea bed. I think they are trawlers. But I don't suppose they care as long as they make some money.
I know they have to make a living, but sometimes I think they're destroying the very environment they rely on to make it.

Hywel, I agree with you. People around here were really upset about the trawlers. As I said this was the first time in our time here (12 years). Some came as far as from Alaska. We had an article already in the local paper which I got the the following specifics from.
"The Bay" was the site of a two day chum opening this week--a rare event for the area.
Commercial fish boats net 21 000 chum (title)
Local authorities worried that the coho stocks will be impacted by the chum fishery.
About 1000 coho died last month because the local river was drying and it prevented their upstream spawning.
The commercial fishers were supposed to release all the coho salmons.
It was very obvious to me that it was not a friendly event.

I love seafood, especially in countries wher you can buy it fresh, directly from fishermen.
By the way, it is traditional, that sailors named their ships and sea boats with women names. I do not know where I read it, but in Spain, Italy - it was always female name....
Reminds me one song with very nice lyrics --- it is about names of the ships which will never return home from the sea.
