Oh sorry I didn't recognise them, it was all the mixed colours confusing me, I even wondered coffee beans!! I can see now, have you picked all those? Or do you shake them from the tree?

I wish all those were coffee beans!!!
We pick the olives....you have no idea how many sack full we've gathered so far!!!!!!
We helped my dad collect some from the trees...we used a machine to shake them off and right in the sacks.

I was eating olives at a tapas 'bistro' last night!

Big crop! Congratulation. They have different colour because they have different state of ripening, or why is that?

What is the next step in the process Alexandramou?

9 Dec, 2012

Exactly Katarina.
We had gale force winds and rain which knocked them all down, a lot of them before their time. This type of weather for a whole week!
This is nothing Katerina, you should count how many sacks we filled!!!

Klahanie,
We take them to the olive press, where we receive virgin olive oil...(no chemicals what so ever) If the oil acidity is low we bring it home if the acidity is too high we sell it.
We helped my dad shake the olives off some of his trees and the acidity levels were 0.5%, that's very good!

Thanks for the info Alexandramou.

Homebird, it's funny how other people see things. ;o)))

You're welcome Klahanie. Turned out these had an acidity level of 1.5%.....pretty good. ;o)))

So many colours, they are beautiful! Very healthy image and makes me dream of wide spaces dotted with olive trees shining in the bright sun... It must be delicious.

Corfu is loaded with olive trees...
This is the first year my hubby and I went olive picking. We now have olive oil for about 2years. Yes, it is delicious and so good for you!
