It was more beautiful during summer and fall when it was in full bloom.

When it's in bloom it's spectacular! I just hope it survives the winter! It's a very tropical vine!

Still blooming in your winter though..............

No, it's not blooming anymore. Even though we've had very nice weather in the 70's (22ºC) the last three days, one of the coldest weather outbreaks in many, many years is heading our way. It's quite possible I could get a few mornings of close to freezing even where I live (which is extremely rare!). I've never had a freezing morning temp is the last 10 years that I lived here. I don't think there's been a freezing temp in my area since the 1960's!

I shouldn't say this, but HA HA!!!
We are just about to return to frosty weather and maybe some snow after the recent mild spell.

Meanie:
I hope your frosty weather doesn't last too long! :>(
It's actually a pretty serious situation here in San Diego County. Most of the SD County is under a freeze watch and a frost advisory. The avocado, citrus, tomato (and many other) crops are really at risk. If the crops are damaged or destroyed the price of produce can be severely impacted throughout the U.S.

We're having the same problem with UK grown veg after the very wet summer................

I can't imagine. However, it must be pretty bad! Hopefully the prices haven't gone up 300%!
Even though it's a very cold 51ºF (10.6ºC) at 11:30 in the morning, it's suppose to get up to 58ºF (14ºC), which is 10ºF below are normal high of 68ºF (20ºC).
The next two morning are forecasted to be freezing here where I live (not sure if it's going to happen, though). I'll know tomorrow if I wake up and all my plants are burned or have melted (Papaya plants melt in freezing temps). :>(

It appears the morning lows will be around 39ºF (3.9ºC), which is extremely cold for a San Diego urban area. However, the freezing temps will not happen (the freeze watch was cancelled). The crops are still at risk in northern San Diego County, though. The biggest concerns are the avocado, citrus and strawberry crops.

That's a relief for you!
12 Jan, 2013
Yes, a HUGE relief! We're not used to such horribly cold temps here in San Diego and around the county. There's some kind of phenomenon going on in the atmosphere which is causing the arctic air to move so far south.
By this coming Wednesday the temps will be back up to 70ºF (21ºC) or slightly warmer. I can't wait! :>)

So the Deppea is safe!
12 Jan, 2013
Yes, the Deppea is safe. I'm not sure what hardiness is on the Deppea. I know it comes from the higher elevations of the tropics.
