Mine grow outdoors, Sticki. They are such a brilliant plant here in the tropics. Fuss-free and so easy to grow, as long as they're not out in full sun during our summers.

I keep mine standing in water in a window that doesn't get sun, is that right?

They don't like full direct sun, Sticki, but some indirect light is fine. The key is humidity. They love humidity, the higher the better. I think I would stand them on a tray of pebbles where the water can sit. Misting the plant would also be helpful.
