These sunflowers grew from dropped wild bird seed!

I have to be honest Joannie, I took this photo last September! So plenty of growing time yet for your young gardener. Mine only grow from the dropped bird seed and this year they are eating more than they are dropping! The ones that are growing vary between 10cms and 30cms. People tell me that the seed in wild bird mixes grows better than any packet, so may-be something to try next year! The black sunflowers give multi-head blooms too, rather than only one flower.

So you don't just have pots in your garden, Potty, you have MORE! Come on, what else have you got tucked away???

:) Ha Ha Henry! The bird feeders that drop the sunflower seeds are on the corner of a raised lawn and border opposite my house. The area doesn't belong to my house, but I have always used that corner for no-one else does!
This is a converted farm so several houses but no gardens, just shared areas.
This sounds really confusing, I'll have to post a photo sometime!

I love this pic, as my children obviously love growing sunflowers and sweet peas. gr8 to see them together here. Also, many thanx for the tip about black seeds, Potty!

Are these sunflowers this years? I help with a school gardening club and one young gardener brought a packet of sunflower seeds in 3 or 4 weeks ago. We planted them but as you can imagine, they're only about 10cms tall. Think we 'missed the boat'. What do you reckon?!?
