Kauna'oa - Cuscuta sandwichiana

Kauna'oa - Cuscuta sandwichiana

Native to Hawaii. Parasitic air plant, which grows on other plants. Lei makers in Hawaii take the thin, light orange strands and twist them together into lei. State flower of Lana'i '
I am actually surprised to see it here in Mexico highlands at 5000ft.
This plant is just a block from our rented house.

I wish I lived there. No problems with El Chapo's?. When I was young I always heard of how beautiful Cuernavaca is. Sad to read today about its now dangerous.

Cuernavaca is a beautiful city. Second best climate in Mexico. These drug cartels are fighting brutally among each other. Somehow they leave tourist along (if you are not involved). Stay away from the trade and you should be OK. People here feel pretty safe but there is plenty of petty crimes and B&Es. Too close to big city and many criminals come from there.

We are more worried about police who want a mordida for traffic offence we did not commit. They have a gun so who is going to argue? Police are new "banditos"....or Robin Hoods if you will.

That goes way back. My uncle would drive to deep Mexico to visit my aunts family. He would laugh telling my parents that he learned not to drive his car around- as soon as they see California license plates he would be pulled over for a "violation". ha..At least he could pay the fine right then and there!
