I'm going to post a photo I took today of two different striped ones together on our living room table.

Stripey ones are brilliant!

Did you see the photo of the two different striped ones together?

I did, really beautiful!

I also thought they looked good together! :-))

Did it encourage you to have more stripey ones?

I have no say in the matter - remember they all came from the seeds I sowed from my own plants about 7 or 8 years ago! I have kept ALL the resulting plants which is why I have at least 50 pots!

is it possible to cross polinate and get more stripes??

6 Feb, 2013

I suppose so, only you have to wait 4 more years to see the results of your work! Perhaps 50% of them would come out striped I'm not sure how the laws of genetics work here they are after all hybrids themselves so you could end up with anything - like I have! But even though there was pure white amongst their parents none of my 50 seedlings has turned out white!
.
I don't seem to have anything extraordinary amongst them from the 100s of photos I've seen on the Internet. :-((

another 4 years??? thats a very long time!

i am amazed not even one out of 50 was white

Every seed needs at least 4 years to reach a flowering size bulb! I know of no shortcuts! Perhaps those that hybridize them professionally know of a way of reducing the time - but they aren't letting on!
