Yes Paul....I took lots of cuttings during Autumn and they rooted and have been in the greenhouse since...Its heated in there...Penstemon cuttings are so easy..:>)

Yes, I've heard that before but never actually taken any.Mind you, everyone, including carol Klein says Papaver(Oriental Poppy) root cuttings are easy but I've tried 3 autumns running and nothing.much to the disappointment of a neighbour who wants some Patty's Plum.I'm sure she thinks I'm making it up but I even showed her the pots in my cold frame one year!

I took root cuttings from a red poppy during Autumn & they have sprouted....Perhaps the bit of heat helped...:>)

Yes, I have ,also done them in the potting shed with bottom heat but nothing seems to work!

Yes, keep trying Paul...very gritty medium....I took root cuttings from a beautiful Lupin that wouldnt set seed and it worked ok...:>)

Lupine tend to rot after a couple of years in my heavy clay but, they seen to selfseed easily for me.
