A winter-flowering, South African type I grew from seed. It was started in the fall of 2010, and these are the first flowers. It dies back in the spring. I had to use snail bait to get one that wasn't eaten.

There are some really fantastic glads native to South Africa. I found the seeds at www.rareplants.de, where they have over 50 subspecies of gladiolus, and an amazing catalogue of unusual seeds.

Look at the www.rareplants.de site - I think it is the best site in Europe for plant seeds (except daylilies).
