oh, the mockingbird is large! I thought maybe they were related as they look quite similar except for the black head/chest. The mockingbird is slightly larger than a sparrow :)

Certainly don't have wagtails in the garden, only see the grey wagtails when I go to the shops, there's lots of them in our shopping square:-)

I have always seen them around shopping areas,I was amazed to see them in the garden, just shows what the cold weather drives them to do.

Yes, I had my first woodpecker eating suet feast this year, he came for almost a week. I've never seen a grey wagtail lol, I meant of course pied the same as yours. We have a Morrisons in Aldridge and the perimeter was planted with large shrubs. I think some of the wagtails nested there, but I'm not really sure where they nest in the shopping square, I'll have to google:-)

Wagtails are strange little things, you don't expect to see them flitting around the pavements.Woodpeckers are so lovely looking, saw one last year for the very first time.Aren't we blessed with little beauties.

We are indeed, and I know it's only nature, but I'm not keen on sparrow hawks although they are beautiful and was thrilled to see a squirrell chasing one off my fence a while back:-)

A sparrow hawk killed one of the moorhens that are on the pond.I was so upset.I disturbed the hawk, the poor moorhen lay on the ground with not one mark on him.Good old squirrel.

I wouldn't hurt one, but don't want any here, it wouldn't be so bad if they killed quickly:-(
