three wild turkeys scratching up a storm! they like suet as much as the next bird. There's an urban legend about that margarine was invented to fatten domestic turkeys for market..and poisoned them instead! don't you love the internet?

:-) Yes Sticki, they are wild birds. These poor creatures were foraging in some of the coldest weather this winter...minus 30 something with the windchill factor.
In spring and summer when they fatten up a little their feathers have the most gorgeous irridescent sheen...and they fan their tails and strut and gubble...I like them very much. I prefer to shoot them with a camera, Janey. We buy our turkey at the supermarket. In the short two years we've been here the idea of vegetarianism makes more and more sense. I hate to see animals suffer and could not raise them to slaughter. I know...I'm a daft marshmallow. =/
