I'm holding up a leaf of an Alocasia 'Portodora'

Remember: There's thousands of varieties and hundreds of species of Alocasia. They are very difficult to id, as many look very similar.

Yes, it would. Although, some of the large leaves were torn by the recent storms.

Mine is a baby compared to these! The leaves get shredded from the winds here. They only look good in the summer.

Ours never get as large as that, they are just starting to grow again in our garden room.....

Thanks! Yes, I love the leaves from the A. portodora. They're one of my favorite besides the very large leaves from A. 'Borneo Giant'.

Give your plants lots of water and fertilizer and they will grow very large.

Yes, the leaves don't like strong winds. My Alocasia 'Calidora' looks horrible right now. It was sun-burned and then the winds and hail didn't help!

It depends on the Alocasia species or variety how large the plant and leaves will grow. They typically stay much smaller in pots, though (even with lots of fertilizer).

They're Australian tree ferns, which are the commonest tree fern which grow in California.
