Schefflera actinophylla is very common here, also. Most are blooming. Are they blooming there, too?

The Ravenea rivularis looks great, also!

Yes, they are blooming now or fruiting. I do not know which ...litle green berries turning orange and then drying out red.

On most species the fruit will turn black when completely ripe.

OK, I will watch.

I'm going to go out on a limb and pronounce that Schefflera 'armata' because of that strong tendency to not branch but grow spires.
Then again,Ive never gardened in the tropics..maybe that's a common way of the S.actinophylla to grow.

I am not expert on tropics Stan. Actually, I am not expert on anything. I let Andy discuss it with you.

You're getting there Klahanie. Besides,Andy and I sort of have the fisherman's view of plants.
Now that I look again, its probably the straight species growing very fast. 'Amata' doesnt have quite as many leaflets.
But,mine is only 6'. It could change as it gets larger.

Whats great about these photos is the thinking they create along with the interest.

Stan:

Most Schefflera actinophylla grow very upright until they grow to a certain height then branch. My neighbor chopped their tree way back then it came back much shrubbier and nicer. This tree is really widely used around apartment complexes....maybe because it grows so upright.
