Hong Kong Orchid Tree
Comments on this photo
Thank you for the ID . There are also some Bauhinia trees flowering pink (-ish) in the neighbourhood

The ones that looks pinkish are most likely Bauhinia variegata or purpurea.
Hong Kong Orchid trees are all grafted trees. All trees originate from one tree (which is known to be a hybrid tree in Canton, China). It has the largest flower of any orchid tree and the fragrance is so sweet and wonderful! This is why it's such a popular garden and street tree here in San Diego.
If you do a GoY seach for Bauhinia, you will most likely see the hundreds of photos I've posted in the past.

You're welcome. Also, Hong Kong Orchid trees do not produce seed pods (which makes them so much cleaner than the others which have tons of ugly seed pods)....as it's a sterile hybrid.

This is Bauhinia variegata 'Alba'. There's many huge trees here in San Diego. There's a huge tree around the corner from me. It's just starting to bloom.
