No idea!! But it's good to find something unusual!
It looks a bit like a stunted Liatris in that picture, but obviously not at this time of year!!
I'm sure someone will know what it is!!

I agree with Paul it does look like Liatris but how strange to be thee at this time of year if it is. No doubt someone will let us all know what it really is. lol :O)

I have seen this little flower en masse on the verge going from Redford toward the bare chin road. Noticed it last year. Kath, I will go and consult my big Wildflower book...it is a curious little thing isn't it?

Nope, nothing like it in Sarah Raven 'Wild Flowers'...a mystery..hope someone knows!

Could it be Petasites Japonicas? or Butterbur to give it its common name.

Saw some myself when we went to Hodsock Priory to see the snowdrops last week:-)

it's smaller 8 think than butternut, which has pinkish flowers....still looking......also, the leaves are very different Kathy. thanks for looking though!

On the other hand...there are some white ones, and the early leaves are like this....still not convinced though.
