My Rock Orchid is about to bloom. It's full of buds. It's not as full as last year because I cut the plant in half and gave half to a friend. Photo taken Feb. 26, 2013.

Thanks! I have to move it soon. It's getting too much sun and heat...by Thursday - Saturday we may have temps to about 90ºF (32ºC), which is way too hot for this orchid!

Far too hot indeed! They'll take a light frost apparently..........

This plant has been in full bloom for more than two weeks now. I brought it indoors this past weekend; however, it must go back outside, as it's way too hot now in the house with the hot weather that's back. It'll have to go into the shade structure in the front yard.

Mine all bloom for quite a goodly while too - I think that they appreciate shorter daylight hours as much as anything.

Yes, they like the shorter days and cooler temps...and the less intense sun.

It grows and blooms very well in the SF Bay Area. It does need some sun, though.
