Do not let looks deceive you, this is the big one. C. merkusii is otherwise known as the Giant Swamp Taro. This is one gigantic plant, up to 4 m tall. The tuberous rhizome can be very large, up to 2 m long and 0.6 m in diameter, and up to 70 kg or even more in weight. Cyrtosperma merkusii used to be cultivated as a food crop in a manner similar to Taro, hence its common name
