They look great! Do snails eat them?

11 Apr, 2013

They mustn't do Delonix....I've never had any problem with Daffs & snails...:>)

11 Apr, 2013

I think I remember Daffs are poisonous to snails. That's good thing! :>)

12 Apr, 2013

Thats a great thing!!!.....We get s lot here....

12 Apr, 2013

Yes, I would guess that's a great thing! :>)

I have tons of snails here in winter. During late spring - fall they're not as active, as they don't like the hot weather.

I can understand that Delonix....British weather is never so hot, so we have slugs & snails most of the year....

13 Apr, 2013

I'm so glad that they're not very active all year...I feel for you, though. Snails and slugs are so destructive to many plants.

16 Apr, 2013

They are....There are lots of ways to stop them damaging plants....We have Vine Weevils here which are more destructive and harder to eradicate.....(well, in my opinion).....:>)

We have the black vine weevil here, also. It's the same one native to Europe.

I have more problems with large leaf-hoopers. I'm not sure of their scientific name...but, they're native to the tropics. I've seen them at the San Diego Zoo bug area. There's some which grow gigantic in Malaysia. They grow pretty big here, also.

OOhh....Im not great with bugs...a bit squeamish Delonix....I remember years ago i had a lupin, infested with Lupin aphid and they were so large i got my husband to dig out the plants and destroy them, a little drastic on reflection...:>)

17 Apr, 2013

I don't blame you. I hate most bugs, also!

We get those giant, black, ugly, monster-looking aphids, also. For almost two month my plants have been infested with aphids.

18 Apr, 2013

Have you tried to get rid of them D?.....Not always easy, is it?..:>)

18 Apr, 2013

I've been power spraying them with water. It helps. There's a lot of ladybugs so they should eat the aphids.

19 Apr, 2013

Lets hope so...:>)

19 Apr, 2013

Yes, I hope so, also. The weather the last 3 days here has been very hot, which increases the aphid populations.

20 Apr, 2013

I can imagine Delonix, i have some in my greenhouse and it isnt that hot in there...:>)

20 Apr, 2013

The aphids have been pretty bad this year because we've had very little rain this season (our normal rainfall is very little to begin with, only about 10 inches (25cm) a year. We've only had 6in (15cm) this year...and our rainy season is over. Most likely we won't see any rain until late November or December. :>(

23 Apr, 2013

Wow...That is dry Delonix, how do you get by with so little water?

23 Apr, 2013

I have to water A LOT! LOL! I have to water the plants almost every day, even in winter.

24 Apr, 2013

Goodness me!....I hope you dont get a hose ban, like we do here, no matter hoe much rain falls..lol

24 Apr, 2013

Oh yes, during the 7 year drought (which ended about two years ago) we were on water-restrictions. I still watered just had to be careful not to get a fine. I have a bad feeling we're most likely going to have the water restrictions again because most of the state of California has only about half our normal rainfall this season. The snow pack in the Sierra Mountains is less than 50 percent.
