Mouldy - it's purple sage (salvia officinalis 'Purpurescens' to give it it's Latin name). As the narcissus is not one of the hardiest varieties, the sage gives it a bit of protection through the worst of the winter weather

It looks fairly sturdy & the leaves look quite velvety.
Is it edible, for humans, I mean?

Yes, you can use it in the exactly the same way as ordinary sage
