Thank you Delonix. I love it because it blooms very early but it is a sgrub and not a beautiful tree like the one in your picture.

Yes, I noticed this one is more shrub-like. Are the flowers fragrant?

Not significantly...if at all. People make it in the hedges as well which looks interesting in the spring.The leaves redden in the fall . It does not mind to be cut. But I prefer it "natural". There are few around our property.

I remember seeing many of this shrub in the San Francisco Bay Area, when I lived there. I've never had one before, though.
I haven't seen Forsythia here in San Diego.
