We call it Vanilla leaf. It has a vanilla scent when the leaf is dry. Local indians used it as an insect repellent. If you dry the leaves and hang them around the house it will keep the mosquitoes and flies away and in the meanwhile will perfume the house.
It trives in our rainforest here. Very common and locally abundant .
