Salmonberry, rubus spectabilis

Salmonberry, rubus spectabilis (rubus spectabilis)

behind the rhododendron, there ia a field of salmonberies, thimbleberries, himalyen blackberries, salal and such, creating unpenetrable thicket. There are more areas like that on the property. I wish I knew how to eliminate these weeds. The sunny spot is at premium in this forest and they thrive in there. Cutting them down is only encouraging them to grow thicker and heathier. We cannot bring an equipment , because of steep slope.
Himalyan blackberries are tasty at the end of the summer but talk about a nuisance.

Lush and green weeds Delonix. Lots of native berries.

It's better than dry and dead weeds! lol! :>)

Sometimes I would like to have them dry and dead then I could plant something more interesting. Unfortunately these weeds are doing so well here and it is almost impossible to eliminate them. I am sure you know the problem in San Diego as well.

Yes, however, our weeds die out during the very long dry season here. Although, we've been getting some pretty good rains here the last three days, which is so rare (and we need so badly). It's typically very, very dry at this time of year.

We usually do not have rain during the summer either Delonix. But it rains all winter so the ground is pretty saturated right now .

I never get saturated soil here. This year all of California is well below our normal rainfall. It's good we're getting some showers this time of year to prevent the horrible fire which are starting already (we do have a year-around fire season here in southern California).

I have seen it on TV. Horrible situation.

Yes, it was a horrible situation! It's hot again; although, the humidity is much higher with the heat.

It is raining on the Island today :-( Well at least I do not have to water and rain water is good for the plants.

Yes, it's always to have plants watered by rain water. Many of my plants brown-tip from our horrible San Diego water.
