Grandma's Lilacs
Grandma's yard was full of flowers
Never were there weeds
Sweetly smelling velvet petals
She planted all from seeds.
Roses, daisies, daffodils,
I caught my breath each time
I walked into this little garden
It's beauty was sublime.
Grandma loved her lilacs best
She held her breath each year
Hoping that the weather held
A late freeze she would fear.
The magic morning would arrive
When fragrance filled the room
And I would know before I looked
Grandma's lilacs were in bloom.

That's lovely we had a lilac tree in the garden in the house where I was born in 1943 and the smell of lilacs brings back so many memory of my wonderful care free childhood .
