Due to water shortage, cause we don't seem to get much rain in winter, we decided to plant water-wise plants, less mowing for the hubby now that all that grass is gone too. :) Australian native plants.

Where exactly do you live? I can share some experience, I have grown trees and plants in hot continental summers and severe winters in garden without water source for 8 years.
