I am an Absolute Amateur Gardener, only starting to get to grips with the garden.
This is after foolishly thinking the same plants as grew in my last garden (planted by the previous owner!) would grow a few miles away in my new garden.
A few dead plants later, I bought a couple of plant chooser books and now select more carefully but will also still take a few risks!
A gardener laid the patio and lawn last year, moved some of the newer shrubs etc and planted trees. Now over to me to take it to an established garden.
The soil is awful - really heavy sticky clay in a frost pocket, prone to snow and really cold winter winds.
So it is a bit unfortunate that my favourite plants are exotic looking with big green jungly leaves- will need to get native plants with a similar look!
