Hello Karen,
This tree is probably 30 years old and it is in the forest completely out of sight. I know that previous owners of this property were not gardeners so I guess it had to be planted by the owners before them. I never pay any attention to it and never see it until it blooms. I have not watered it in 11 years and it does not have very much light but it blooms beautifuly for several years (since I've discovered it.) I am sure that yours have better conditions than that so it should do well.
