This part of the stem is just a few inches above the graft - hopefully yours will do the same

Yes YDD - it's to show her that there may be hope after her Birthday Acer Mishap!
This acer was very sick last year and I too a chance with it. I cut out all the dead stems almost back to the graft. It has recovered very well. Other than this part of the tree all the branches are stick thin but they will fatten up and I'm to trying to train them upwards to give it a better shape.

Its looking good Scottish, I had a lovely red one, my pride and joy, it grew to a good size then decided to die, for no reason i can think of, yours has a good chance, i hope Louisa's shoots again.

Thanks for the photo! Yes, there is still hope for mine, although it is just a leafless stump at the moment, I've put it in a pot and will see what happens. Your new leaves are looking good!:)
