Holboellia latifolia - 2013

The flowers on this evergreen climber are small, and are not obvious. The plant is not very hardy, but I have found it prefers not be wrapped in fleece over the winter, so you just need to keep your fingers firmly crossed. Having said that, mine has come through five winters now.

Possibly, but according to the RHS, this is a 'good' one! We shall see. I've never noticed this plant suffering from slug/snail attack, but it is not the hardiest, so I always mulch the roots for winter, although it's come through the last three years OK

HB - yes, the flowers are about half an inch long. The leaves are typically three to four inches long, and the whole plant can reach fifteen feet.
So finding a half inch flower on a fifteen foot tall plant, which may be hidden by leaves - well, you get the idea
