Side garden bed

I've finally planted three lupins this year, and they have nice looking buds on. I'm looking forward to seeing them.

Oh! That's the one I planted last autumn..it's just started growing.

All my lupins now have buds. I wonder which ones the 'helicopter' snails will pick on?

oh dear! I just went all over the area mine are in with slug killer, then went back to the GC and bought two more bottles of slug killer for another area...bit by bit I shall decimate those molluscs!

Another bottle of slug killer has been used up! I'm gradually working my way around the garden, one bottle every time I go to the GC!

I'm afraid it's essential this year. :-(

Have you noticed how they love violas and pansies? They've wrecked most of mine! Not any more!!

Interesting....I hadn't thought of that! But no, mine are definitely slugs...rounded munching holes and stunted growth rather than torn blooms.

You could go out after dark with a torch and collect them up for disposal.

People who do that are more dedicated than me B!;) ..and less squeamish!

Thanks, Sbg. I couldn't kill snails and slugs like that...however, I've just squished three more red devils!

I got Victoria to collect beetles in a jar. she collected 18 and the chirping noises they were making was surprisingly loud.

I didn't know they 'chirped', Sbg - I wonder what they were saying?
