Orange and Blue Hyacinth (Hyacinthus)

Orange is a favourite colour of mine and I could resist these unusual orange Hyacinths when I visited the whole saler...

Lovely arrangement Tracey, there were some orange ones on the Scottish gardening programme I watched the other night, but I have not seen any in the shops :o)

Thanks Neena, I think these came from Holland and might be a new variety.

Thanks Paul - They have a very unusual perfume don't they? Some people can't stand it, as it's so strong!

Yes I know what you mean - your poor Mum. I worked with a florist who had to wire up loads of the individual flowers for a Wedding... She ended up with a raging headache and feeling sick! :o(

Very lovely arrangement PT -very unusual never seen that colour before either!
Im like you i love orange flowers too ....always miss spending time seeing my late flowering area of the top garden with lots of mixes of Rudbeckia, Coreopsis,Dahlias, Calendula,Marigolds,Fox and Cubs, Sunflowers and Cosmos they come to their best late and by then its normally cooling off and we lose the daylight... it seems to draw in quicker here in the hills ;)
So i seem to be at the other end of the garden and patio area potching about .So this year im going to swap the colour scheme and put all the pastels up the top garden and bring all the fiery colour annuals nearer to the cottage .....Well thats the plan anyway NOwww i just have to hope Mother Nature agrees with me ha ha!!

Let me know how this goes Beehappy... Only when I first planted out the garden here, I tried to follow some tips I'd read re: trying to make the garden appear longer/larger, by planting the pastel colours at the bottom... It didn't really work for me as the flowers were lost when you looked from the house. All that was really prominent were the green leaves - or maybe I should go to Specsavers lol.
