If you saw my Scotney castle pictures in my Garden visit blog part 3, yesterday, you'll know what I'm talking about.we've made 4 visits to NT gardens over the last 9days and Julie does lik her coffee and scone. It seems, judging by some of the comments, she may have some competition for the job if the post of official taster ever comes up!!!! But, she gave a firm thumbs down for Chartwells effort today. The choice of cake was poor and at £3.10 a slice, I thought exorbitant ! also, very little choice of gluten free and no shortbread or biscuits!! Poor effort And Julie's scone, well, where do we start? it broke to pieces when putting butter on(I didn't,say spreading as that was impossible! Julie had to eat it with a spoon as it was a pile crumbs and it was the driest scone she'd ever eaten. So, there you have it.............the verdict of the Essex jury is NIL point!!!!! ( see what I did there? ...topical eh??
But, it is a lovely place!!!

That looks really dry! I am also a fan of a good scone...it's so disappointing when they aren't fresh. How about a complaining campaign against poor cafe baking. I'm sure they would improve if more of us politely asked for a fresh one!

Julie doesn't really like jam/cream on scones Mouldy!
This wasn't fresh,Karen, but it wasn't well made either...far too dry! Let's start CARS......Campaign for Real Scones
Or CAFS .........Campaign For Fresh Scones !

That does look dry. I had a few jam and cream scones last week on holiday, and they were all excellent, some were still warm from the oven, they are the best!

If any of you visit Devon or Cornwall I can let you know where the best cream teas can be found - I have sampled quite a few!!!

Unfortunately, I can't have scones(gluten/wheat/dairy intolerant) and although Juliemlikes scones, she doesn't like them with jam or cream!!
Julie had a warm cheese scone at Nymans when we visited 10th and she said it was one of the nicest she'd ever had!!!

Lol. Good acronyms, Paul.
Julie should try curry, chilli or chocolate-orange scones. :-9

Chocolate orange scones sound nice but they'd have to be gluten free!!

Wot, no jam or cream?
Just as well you had a drink or you wouldn't have been able to whistle, Julie. ;-)
