Cinders if you imagine a Buttercup that is the true colour.
Kept one for 12 years and the main stem was like a small tree trunk and as hard.They have multiple flower stems as they mature.

It's amazing how it stands upright with such a large bloom I can understand the stem becoming hardened to take the strain , mine are way behind yours !

Amy its the main trunk of the plant that becomes hard ,not the flower stem you have to be careful moving them
