Japanese Ornamental Cherry

It is difficult to reconcile the delicate, soft pink appearance of this beautiful Japanese Ornamental Cherry with the late, cold spring - to us it feels so raw, cold and unpleasant but then we are hairless apes from tropical East Africa and have spent some time in the course of our evolutionary history frequenting its warm rivers, lakes and coastal waters thus loosing most of our body-hair - the Cherry on the other hand originates from the Northern Temperate Zone and is evolved to withstand low temperatures which would kill us in minutes unless we were properly clad in the appropriate warm clothing.
