My phlox growing over rocks in front garden

I have the same one. They look so pretty when covered in blooms :)

Sadly I do not have the name of this one Floralhead2.

They are really lovely.....don't remember seeing such low growing Phlox before!!!

I don't remember anything other than it being called 'ground phlox'.
It's very picky! worse than a rose bush sometimes!

In Autumn I give them a good haircut I just love them.

Wow Kath! How many plants are in that clump? Surely not only one!? That would be amazing! I love these ground covering Ploxes Paul...they are so pretty and some are semi evergreen too. Phlox subulata most of mine.

I googled Phlox subulata & that is exactly what mine look like. That must be what these are too.

Karen there is one plant on each side of the rocks so total of 2 phlox.

If they were easy to propagate I could try for you.

Are the leaves on yours prickly at all Karensusan?

Mine are soft not prickly at all.

Yes, mine too. Only prickly if the dry up in the winter!!

I think I avoid it mostly, but have to cut it back & when I do it's usually quite prickly :)

You must have a particular one floral head. It's only the dried up bits on mine that are a bit prickly...you know, when the cold has scorched and dried them out. I should cut all that stuff off, but I haven't got around to it yet!

I don't know? Wonder if it's because it's older maybe, who knows! It usually grows over the grass & the grass will die (I believe it would take over the grass if I let it!) so I give it a good trim every once in awhile...gloves on of course ;)
