This golden foliage will brighten the garden all year around. I have replaced a miscanthus which just didn't grow well at all...I think it is just not warm enough here for a lot of grasses.

oh the yellow lupins will look amazing in the black pots, can't wait to see those. Love lupins. :O)

Thanks both of you. I was just wishing I had chosen another colour of pots...something a little softer...maybe green even...but the black is very dramatic with the yellow.

Also be careful with the sun Karen, I fried few plants in black pots. They attract heat and cook the roots. But
Chamaecyparis pisifera does best in part shade anyway.

I took another failing grass out of the pot behind and to the left and replaced it with a Rose of Sharon. I'll take a photo of that one when it is in flower. It's a bit dull at the minute. I also got some bedding plants and some yellow lupins for my big black pots. I'll take pics of them in a couple of weeks when they've filled out a little.
