My Desert Rose is gorgeous in full flower. It blooms so very well every year. It really likes very hot weather. Photo taken June 10, 2013.

Yes, they can suffer heat damage when temperature approach 110ºF (43ºC) when in a pot (my plant suffered some heat damage last Sept in similar temps which lasted 10 hours, it was the long duration of the heat which affected it). In the ground they'll tolerate much hotter temps without damage. I've seen them in the ground around Palm Spring, CA., where the temps can get up to 125ºF (51.6ºC) and sometimes slightly hotter.

They do like the heat , but they also have their limits ! my adeniums got scalded in our recent 43C plus heat their stems becoming yellow and losing leaves.I had to keep them in shade, now they are recovering.
